My name is Paul Faraway. I am a writer, adventurer and author of The Sun Can Be Yellow, a blog about my curious experiences in Liberia. I started writing blogs over ten years ago, driven by an unstoppable urge that forced me to sit down once and for all and write down my thoughts and feelings. As I wrote, I felt free at last and discovered the unending possibilities, which in turn propelled me to seek out once-in-a-lifetime experiences. That is when I realised that travelling had become my lifeline, the ultimate vehicle that would transport me to amazing places and the best means to experience every possible adventure.
So I set off for many countries in the world and eventually ended up in Liberia, a fascinating African country where I have experienced many new discoveries whilst working for an international organisation. This blog is where I share my life in Liberia from an uncommon expat point of view. Moreover, it is also where I immerse myself in the burning light of African literature and history through brutally honest book reviews. You will also find more of my travel stories around West Africa (Ghana, Guinea…). This space also highlights the many ‘African proverbs’ that are displayed on the back of Liberian taxis, as well as a lot of African and Liberian music. Welcome to The Sun Can Be Yellow.
